*66 (Busy Call Return) monitors a busy line for 30 minutes and lets you know when the line is free; and
*69 (Last Call Return) tells you the telephone number of your last caller.
These two options are available on a monthly subscription or pay-per-use basis.
To use *66
When you get a busy line, hang up.
Lift the receiver again and listen for the dial tone.
Dial *66 (1166 on rotary phone) and hang up.
Call Return will monitor the line for 30 minutes.
When the line is free, Call Return will let you know by two short rings followed by one long one.
Lift the receiver when you hear the rings and Call Return will automatically dial the number for you.
If, after 30 minutes, the call has not been connected, the call return request will be cancelled.
To cancel a *66 request
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Dial *86 (1186 on rotary phone) and hang up.
Your *66 request has been cancelled.
To use *69
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Dial *69 (1169 on rotary phone).
A voice message will tell you the number of the last incoming call and ask if you would like to return the call.
To return the call, press 1.
To cancel a *69 request
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Dial *89 (1189 on rotary phone) and hang up.
Your Call Return request has been cancelled.
Combining Services
If you subscribe to Call Waiting, Call Return will work on a waiting call. If you do not respond to the Call Waiting tone, you can use Call Return (*69) when you complete your call to find out the number of the waiting call.
If you subscribe to Three-Way Calling, you cannot activate Call Return (*66) while trying to contact a third person.
Call Return (*66) works for calls placed using Speed Calling.
