Call Waiting

Call Waiting lets you know with a soft beep that another caller is trying to reach you when you are already on the phone.

Data Transmission and the Internet
For your data to be transmitted properly, it is very important that you disable Call Waiting when you are on the Internet, or use a fax machine or modem on your telephone line. If you do not disable Call Waiting and you receive a call during your transmission, your modem or fax machine will disconnect.

To cancel Call Waiting before you send or receive data:

  • Lift the receiver.
  • Listen for the dial tone, press *70 and hang up.
  • At the end of your online session, Call Waiting is reactivated automatically.

If you use a modem connected to your telephone line to access the Internet, the Call Waiting feature can be disabled using the Dial-Up Networking (DUN) features on your computer. Contact your Internet service provider for more information.
