With Voice Mail, an intermittent dial tone or indicator light tells you when you have messages. This dial tone does not prevent you from placing or receiving calls.
Dial tone and indicator light
If the dial tone or indicator light on your phone stops working, you can reactivate it by doing the following:
- Access the Voice Mail system Main Menu
- Press 4 for "Personal Options"
- Press 1 to select "Message Notification On/Off"
- Press 1
- Press 3 to activate Message Notification
If the indicator light on your phone remains lit:
- Press the "Options" key on your phone.
- Answer "Yes" to the "Clear Message Waiting" option.
OR
- Access the Voice Mail system Main Menu
- Press 4 for “Personal Options”
- Press 1 to select “Message Notification On/Off”
- Press 1
- Press 4 to deactivate Message Notification
To activate and deactivate Voice Mail
You can activate or deactivate Voice Mail as required.
- If you don't want Voice Mail to take your messages when you are on the phone, press *91. Press *90 to reactivate the feature.
- If you don't want Voice Mail to take your messages when you are out, press *93. Press *92 to reactivate the feature.
For remote access to your Voice Mail
There are 3 different ways to take your messages from outside your home or your business.
- Dial your Voice Mail access number.
- Press 2 for instructions in English or 1 for instructions in French, then press # .
- Dial your telephone number, including your area code.
- Enter your password.
- Press 1 1 to listen to unheard messages.
- Dial your own phone number.
- Press 9 when you hear your personal greetings.
- Enter your password.
- Press 1 1 to listen to unheard messages.
- Dial the Voice Mail toll free access number 1-877-235-5777 from anywhere in Canada.
- Press 2 for instructions in English or 1 for instructions in French, then press # .
- Dial your telephone number, including your area code.
- Enter your password.
- Press 1 1 to listen to unheard messages.
If you don't know the Voice Mail access number, call a Télébec Customer Service representative at 1 888 TÉLÉBEC (835-3232).
Listening to your messages
You have a number of options when listening to your messages. You can rewind, pause or find out the date, time and length of a message.
If you hear static when you listen to your messages, press 3 twice. This will eliminate unwanted noise on a message.
Tips on using Voice Mail
- Maximum length of the greeting is 30 seconds.
- Unheard messages are saved for 21 days.
- A maximum of 25 messages, each a maximum of three minutes long, can be stored (including saved messages).
- If you have a telephone with a display screen, "Message Waiting" will appear on the screen and the indicator light will flash to tell you there are messages.
- The intermittent dial tone does not prevent you from placing or receiving calls. Place calls as you would normally.

If you lose or forget your Voice Mail password, call Télébec at 1 888 TÉLÉBEC (835-3232).
