Télébec Contributes to the Development of Student and Community Life of Magdalen Islanders
Isabelle Courville, President and Chief Executive Officer of Télébec ? Northern Telephone, announced today that the technological equipment in the videoconference room at the Centre d??tudes coll?giales des ?les, installed as part of technical tests in 1999, is now the property of the population of the Magdalen Islands.
"We are very pleased to equip the students and the members of various organizations with essential state-of-the-art tools for pursuing their studies and holding their community meetings, two important factors in an area?s development, and thereby contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the Magdalen Islanders," stated Isabelle Courville at a media opportunity.
Indeed, this gift from Télébec will enable students and organizations in particular to save substantially on increasingly high travel and accommodation expenses. The equipment, valued at $25,000, offers students the opportunity to maintain the use of the videoconference room for undergraduate and graduate training projects in cooperation with the Universit? du Qu?bec ? Rimouski.
The ZIP Committee, food cooperatives, businesses specialized in fishing and other local activities as well as several government associations will also be able to avail themselves of this equipment and videoconference room located at the Centre d??tudes coll?giales des ?les and overseen by the SADC (418-986-2225, Ext. 1).
