Security
The security of your Web transactions is crucial. You may rest assured that TÉLÉBEC, LIMITED PARTNERSHIP has taken all the reasonable precautions possible to ensure that you can transact business on the telebec.com site with complete peace of mind.
Of course, on the Internet, transactions must be secure from end to end. Thus, here are a few important points to take into account before you send confidential information over the Internet.
1. Security seal
Always make sure you are in a secure area when entering confidential information. If you do not see the seal of confidentiality, or if the seal is broken, the security of your Internet transaction cannot be guaranteed and could be intercepted by a third party.
2. Transaction confidentiality
As a precaution, all transactions conducted in the secure area of telebec.com are encrypted during their transfer between our website servers and your PC. Special note: this service is only available with the most recent versions of Netscape and Microsoft Explorer, which support the 128-bits SSL security protocol.
3. How do I quit telebec.com ?
It is preferable to end a session on telebec.com by clicking on "Quit session" on the screen. This is the safest method of exiting.
4. Clean out cache memory
The cache memory stores files in use locally, significantly improving browser performance.
While the cookies used on the Télébec Web site are not stored on your hard drive and are used only to maintain variable data during your browser session, to protect the confidentiality of your information, we recommend that you clean out your cache memory after each session on telebec.com. This is especially important if the workstation you use for online transactions is shared by other users.
5. A secret code: Your PIN
The PIN (or password) is the simplest and most efficient way of controlling access to your confidential information. Proper management will maximize your security.
When you visit telebec.com for the first time and you switch to "online order" mode or access confidential information about your account, a secure authentication process will be activated and you will be prompted to enter your telephone number, your five-digit access code (which appears on your phone bill), and your personal identification number (PIN). The PIN is, in actual fact, a password.
We suggest that you choose a password that will be easy to remember. It must be comprised of six to eight digits. However, do not choose a password based on your personal information; it will make it too easy for scam artists to guess. Especially, do not use any part of your five-digit access code, which is easily found on your bill.
Some advice: Do not tell anyone your password. Do not store it on your computer. Do not write it down anywhere, but if you must, keep the paper in a safe place. Finally, for maximum security, you should change your password at least once a month. To do this, simply access the "My PIN".
6. Consumer Responsibility
TÉLÉBEC, LIMITED PARTNERSHIP follows rigorous and very strict security standards. Every reasonable precaution possible has been taken to protect the confidentiality of all information transmitted during transactions on telebec.com. Nevertheless, the consumer must also take necessary measures to maintain a high level of security.
It is therefore important that you ensure that your browser does not allow any security breaches, by updating your system regularly. In this regard, we recommend that you install the updates periodically recommended by your Web browser to maintain a high level of security.
TÉLÉBEC, LIMITED PARTNERSHIP takes all confidentiality issues very seriously. This aspect is of the highest importance to us. For more information about the confidentiality or privacy of personal information, see the section on "Personal Information and Privacy".
